Midnight · Retail · DPS Lane
Bleed-focused cat melee that rewards clean snapshotting and energy management with elite single-target damage.
Critical Strike and Mastery typically lead after Agility for this damage profile.
Midnight tuning shifts every patch and stat weights change with your own gear. Treat this as the starting direction, then sim your character or check the guild Discord before spending crests on upgrades.
Pick the tree that matches the fight: one is usually stronger for single-target, the other for cleave. With Midnight's level 90 cap you also unlock the new Apex talents at the bottom of your spec tree — do not leave them unspent.
Race and character identity
Retail Midnight keeps race choice tied to class eligibility and useful racial utility. The guide does not create near-duplicate race/spec pages; instead this authoritative spec page covers every legal race and links to individual race profiles.
Troll, Night Elf, Worgen
Retail racial throughput differences are usually much smaller than gear, talents, uptime, and mechanics. Use utility as the tiebreaker.
Race balance is not a substitute for correct gear, talents, rotation, or encounter execution.
Gearing in Midnight
Run Midnight heroics, delves with Valeera, and the outdoor Prey hunts to fill every slot. World gear and delve caches get you into the item-level range for the season fast.
Spend the season's crests to walk each piece up its upgrade track — weapons and trinkets first, then the armor slots carrying your best stats. From patch 12.0.5 the Voidforge system pushes weapons and trinkets further with Ascendant Voidcores.
Chase your 4-piece class set from The Voidspire raid, the vault, and the catalyst. The set bonus is usually worth more than raw item level — check the guild notes before breaking it for an off-piece.

This follows the attached Frost Death Knight audit method: define the checkpoint, remove wrong-stat gear, protect the spec’s core rules, build the tier set, upgrade weapons and trinkets, then polish every slot. The exact item changes, but the decision process stays the same.
Choose an eligible race, verify the correct armor and weapon type, and decide whether the character is primarily for raids, Mythic+, delves, or flexible guild play.
Use account heirlooms only through the maximum scaling level shown in your collection tooltip. Replace any heirloom as soon as current quest or dungeon gear clearly exceeds it.
Finish the previous-expansion leveling lane, collect a complete primary-stat set, and practice the core resource loop, interrupt, movement tool, and defensive buttons.
Follow the Midnight campaign through Eversong Woods, Zul’Aman, Harandar, and the Voidstorm. Spend all ten new talent points, including the new Apex and Hero Talent additions.
Fill weak slots through normal/heroic dungeons, delves, Prey, world activities, crafted gear, and the Great Vault. Do not waste high crests on temporary low-track items.
Complete the four-piece tier set, obtain a high-track weapon and two role-appropriate trinkets, fully enchant/gem the character, and maintain a written next-upgrade list.
Gear audit
| Slot group | Rule | Hero path |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon / off-hand | Leather; staves, polearms, daggers, fist weapons, and maces depending on specialization. | Prioritize the highest upgrade track with the correct primary stat. Use raid, Mythic+, Great Vault, crafting, and Delve sources; spend premium crests only when the item will remain. |
| Tier slots | Head, shoulders, chest, hands, and legs | Protect the current four-piece set bonus. Raid, Great Vault, and Catalyst conversions usually matter more than a small item-level increase. |
| Trinkets | Two role-appropriate effects | Pair reliable sustained value with a planned burst or defensive trinket. Sim DPS trinkets; healers and tanks should also value encounter utility. |
| Neck and rings | Correct secondaries and sockets | Sockets and ideal secondaries can beat a small item-level gain. Re-evaluate after every major weapon or tier change. |
| Crafted slot | Deterministic weak-slot repair | Craft the slot that raid and dungeon drops have failed to replace. Do not duplicate a slot already targeted by tier or a guaranteed quest reward. |
| Final polish | Gems, enchants, consumables, repairs | No “temporary” empty enchant slots on raid night. Complete preparation before requesting priority loot. |
Wrong armor or wrong primary stat is an immediate fail even when the item level looks attractive.
Use the character sheet and tooltip to confirm the item actually supports the specialization.
Secondary priorities move with gear and tuning; simulate before a permanent crest commitment.
Talents, opener, and combat loop
Hero Talent paths: Druid of the Claw and Wildstalker. Group utility: Mark of the Wild, combat res, Stampeding Roar.
Establish the spec’s maintenance effect, pet, stance, or damage-over-time package.
Align the primary cooldown with Bloodlust/Heroism or the assigned burn phase.
Spend the main resource before capping; do not waste runes, combo points, focus, rage, energy, or charges.
Consume high-value procs before they expire.
Use filler only when no higher-priority action, interrupt, movement, or defensive is required.

Weekly and final audit
| Priority | Activity | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Great Vault objectives | Create multiple choices instead of relying on a single raid drop. |
| 2 | Raid progression | Tier pieces, high-track weapons, trinkets, and encounter practice. |
| 3 | Mythic+ and heroic dungeons | Target weak slots, crests, score, and repeatable practice. |
| 4 | Delves and outdoor progression | Fill gear gaps, earn caches, and practice solo defensive play. |
| 5 | Crafting / Catalyst | Repair deterministic weak slots and protect four-piece tier. |
| 6 | Audit | Confirm correct gear, talents, enchants, gems, consumables, macros, and next targets. |
Guild Notes
Druids remain the most flexible roster piece in the game: one character can tank a key, heal a raid, and still fill a DPS slot on farm night. The Haranir joined the class in Midnight with their own werebear, owl, and lynx forms, which alone justified a few rerolls in the guild.
Bleed-focused cat melee that rewards clean snapshotting and energy management with elite single-target damage. In the guild's dps core, that translates to a spec that earns its slot through mark of the wild, combat res, stampeding roar as much as raw output — and officers weigh both when building rosters for The Voidspire and key nights.
On a raid night, your job splits into three habits the guild coaches from day one: know your opener cold (the first ten seconds decide most parses), plan your burst windows around the raid leader's called damage phases rather than on cooldown, and treat mechanics as part of your rotation — a dead DPS does zero DPS, and in The Voidspire several bosses punish greed with raid-wide damage.
In Mythic+ the calculus changes: funnel priority damage into what the tank calls, hold burst for the pulls that matter, and learn which of your kit doubles as group utility — an interrupt rotation carries keys harder than a parse does.
What stats do I chase? Critical Strike and Mastery typically lead after Agility for this spec, but Midnight tuning moves — sim your own character before you commit crests, and when in doubt post your armory in the guild Discord for an officer audit.
Which hero talents? Druid of the Claw and Wildstalker. One usually pulls ahead for single-target and the other for cleave; the build channel pins the current recommendation each raid week, and your Apex talents at the bottom of the spec tree should never sit unspent.
What race should I pick? Druids can roll the new Haranir allied race once the Midnight campaign is finished, and plenty of the guild has.
How do I actually join? Contact us on Discord, tell an officer you play feral druid, and you will have a guild invite and a spot on the next damage roster before the weekly reset. Bring your consumables; we will bring the strategy.
